Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about converting fonts to SVG with Fontezzi.

General

What is Fontezzi?

Fontezzi is a free online font to SVG converter with a built-in effects editor. Pick any Google Font, type your text, and get clean, editable SVG paths — plus shadows, outlines, halos, and more. No design skills or desktop software required.

How do I convert a Google Font to SVG?

  1. Open the Fontezzi editor
  2. Type your text
  3. Choose from 1,700+ Google Fonts
  4. Optionally add effects (shadows, outlines, arc warp, etc.)
  5. Download your SVG

The entire process takes seconds. Your text stays editable until you export.

Is Fontezzi free?

Yes. The core editor, all Google Fonts, basic effects, and SVG downloads are completely free — no account required. Pro unlocks advanced effects, unlimited exports, cloud projects, batch automation, and more. See Pricing for details.

How is Fontezzi different from other font to SVG tools?

Most text to SVG tools give you a single flat path. Fontezzi gives you a full effects pipeline — stack shadows, outlines, halos, and curved text, all as real vector shapes. Every effect is a separate SVG path you can use independently.

Can Fontezzi replace Illustrator for text effects?

For text-to-vector workflows, yes. Illustrator is a powerful general-purpose tool, but that generality works against you for typography — the features you need are buried in deep menus, and creating layered text effects (outlined text with offset shadows, halos, curved paths) means 15–20 minutes of manual work per iteration. Change the font or fix a typo and you start over.

Fontezzi is purpose-built for typography workflows. Everything is one or two taps away. Your text stays editable the whole time — change the font, fix a word, tweak the spacing, and all your effects rebuild instantly. It does one thing and does it well.

Is Fontezzi related to google-font-to-svg-path?

Yes! Fontezzi is built by the same author as google-font-to-svg-path, the popular open-source tool with 900+ stars on GitHub. Everything the original tool does is 100% free on Fontezzi, plus you get effects, layers, snapshots, and much more.

Font to SVG Conversion

What fonts can I convert to SVG?

Fontezzi supports all 1,700+ fonts in the Google Fonts library. You can also upload your own .ttf, .otf, or .woff2 font files.

Can I convert text to SVG path data?

Yes. Fontezzi converts your text into SVG <path> elements with d attribute data. You can copy the raw path data or download the full SVG file.

Does Fontezzi support multi-line text?

Yes. Type multiple lines in the editor and adjust line height to control spacing. Each line is rendered as separate SVG paths.

Can I control letter spacing and kerning?

Yes. Fontezzi includes typography controls for letter spacing and kerning. Font kerning is applied by default using the font's built-in kerning tables.

Does Fontezzi support non-Latin scripts (Arabic, Hindi, etc.)?

Fontezzi has broad support for complex scripts including Arabic, Devanagari, and CJK characters. Results depend on the specific Google Font chosen — pick a font that supports your target script.

What about ligatures?

Fontezzi supports OpenType ligatures and advanced typographic features. Select a font with ligature support and they'll be applied automatically.

Effects & Design

What effects are available?

Fontezzi includes 15+ effects including:

  • Shadow — drop shadows with customizable offset, blur, and color
  • Outline — stroke outlines at any width
  • Halo — glowing aura effect around text
  • Arc Warp — bend text along a curve
  • Ring — arrange text in a circle
  • And more being added regularly

Basic effects (1× shadow, 1× outline, ring) are free. Stacking multiple effects and advanced effects like Halo and Arc Warp are Pro features.

Are effects real vector shapes or just visual filters?

Every effect in Fontezzi is a real SVG path — not a CSS filter or raster effect. This means you can send your output to a laser cutter, vinyl plotter, CNC machine, or 3D printer and it just works. Each effect layer is a separate, independent shape.

Can I use Fontezzi for laser cutting or CNC?

Absolutely. Since every effect produces real vector geometry (not visual filters), Fontezzi output is directly compatible with laser cutters, vinyl plotters, CNC routers, and 3D printers. This is one of Fontezzi's key differentiators from design tools like Canva or Figma.

Snapshots & Showdowns

What are Snapshots?

Snapshots capture a version of your design — font, colors, effects, everything. You can create multiple snapshots to explore variations without losing previous versions.

What are Showdowns?

Showdowns let you compare your snapshots side by side in a grid view. Great for narrowing down options or getting feedback from a team. Pro users can share Showdown links for others to vote on their favourite.

Export & Output

What formats can I export?

  • SVG — scalable vector graphics, the primary output
  • React .tsx — React component export

Can I copy just the SVG path data?

Yes. You can copy the raw d attribute string for any path directly from the editor. This is free for all users.

Can I export a React component?

Yes. You can export designs as ready-to-use React .tsx components — great for web developers who want lightweight SVG typography in their apps.

Batch Automation

Can I generate multiple designs at once?

Yes. Pro users can turn any design into a reusable template, map a CSV column to any property (text, colors, sizes), and generate hundreds of variations in seconds. Perfect for event badges, product labels, social graphics, and more.

Pricing & Account

Do I need an account to use Fontezzi?

No. The editor works without any sign-up. Your work is saved locally in your browser. Create an account when you want Pro features.

What does Pro include?

Pro unlocks:

  • Multiple projects
  • Cloud sync across devices
  • Shareable Showdown links

Yes. Pro is month-to-month with no contracts. Cancel anytime from your account page.
